Bylaws

Bylaws are the official rules that guide how a ditch company is run. They’re not about how water flows day‑to‑day — they’re about how the organization makes decisions, handles responsibilities, and keeps everything fair and consistent for the properties that rely on the ditch.

About These Two Bylaw Documents

The Allen–Reno bylaws were first created in 1942, when the company formalized how the ditch would be managed, how decisions would be made, and how responsibilities would be shared among the properties on the lateral. These original bylaws remain the official governing document of the ditch company and reflect the rules and expectations that have guided the system for generations.

Below the original bylaws, you’ll also find a modern, simplified version. This second document does not replace the original; instead, it helps today’s members understand the same rules in clear, everyday language. It explains the intent behind each section, how the rules apply today, and why they matter for the operation and maintenance of the ditch.

Together, these two documents provide:

  • the historical foundation of how the ditch company was organized

  • a current, easy‑to‑read explanation of what those rules mean for members today

Both are provided so every member can understand how the ditch is managed and how we work together to keep the system running smoothly.
